A rare occurrence of blackthorn is found by Bømlahamn port and Kalavågen in south Bømlo. This bush flowers in the early spring before the leaves are out, when the blueberry coloured drupe (fruit) has reached maturity in the previous late autumn. The species is more common further south and east in Norway.
