"When the Oksen wears his hat, there will be rain tonight; when the Oksen wears its jersey, make hay in a hurry", is what the elders say in Ullensvang. Mt. Oksen is centrally located and visible from large parts of the four arms of the fjord in Indre Hardanger, and it is the subject of many weather verses. Many of these verses have a simple physical explanation, which is related to the weather patterns in summer. Then, cool, moist air comes in from the west in the highlands. The warmer air - that rises up from the fjord along the sides of the mountains - cools abruptly, such that it forms mist clouds. In the short-term, such weather rhymes can be quite reliable.
